Summer, so far…

Our summer so far has been filled with a zoo trip,

watching movies and snuggling,

swimming,

playing so hard at our friend’s house that we fall asleep on the couch,

making chocolate cupcakes for our friends,

drinking out of plastic cups because we’ve packed up our real cups {and renaming ourselves Hammer and phonetically writing that name on a cup: Hmr ;) },

playing in half empty rooms,

building train tracks with friends on the porch during Mommy and Daddy’s yard sale,

and packing, packing, packing!!!!

Wordless Wednesday…

Five…

My little Luke is FIVE!! I’m pretty sure I just gave birth to him, but apparently not!

He was so excited about his birthday and tore right through his presents first thing. When your birthday is 2 days after Christmas, it’s hard to space your gift getting throughout the day.

He was super excited about his Imaginext toys and he loved his Where is My Hairbrush playdough. J He played with it all morning! He would make his Veggie Tales friend “hair” (aka playdough) grow and then cut it with his playdough scissors.

He also got a cool big boy Phineas and Ferb bike. It took him a little bit to warm up to it, but he loves it now. He rode it all through the house. J

We had chili for lunch (one of Luke’s favorites) and had some cake. He was so proud of his cake that he helped me make. It ended up this crazy hot pink color, but we all called it red. He mixed the batter and iced it and poured sprinkles and put the candles all himself. He was so proud.

We headed to the zoo in the late afternoon. We went to Zoo Lights for Daniel’s birthday and Luke was disappointed that the animals were sleeping, so we went to see them awake.

It was cold and nearly 4:00, so I was worried about how much fun the trip would be, but it was great! The animals were so active.

The rhinoceros walked right up to us and stuck his head over the fence. We didn’t dare touch him, but we could have! I didn’t even zoom in for this awesome picture above.

Animals that we don’t usually see moving around came right up to us and the lion was roaring over and over.

We told Luke that he was singing Happy Birthday to him. J We had such a great time and Luke loved every bit of it.

We went out for the birthday boy’s favorite meal: chicken nuggets and French fries.

All in all, I would say Luke had a fun day turning 5 years old!!

Nine…

My first born little man is nine years old now! It’s crazy how fast time flies when you’re someone’s Momma!

Daniel woke up to his now expected balloons in his room. There were nine of them this year.

And streamers in the door way.

We spaced out the gift opening a little bit, because he was so excited. There was lots of Star Wars lego play before 8:00!

Daniel had a few buddies come over to play and eat pizza around lunch time. He was so proud of his cake. He went to the store and picked it out all by himself. Lots of chocolate. And some weird Christmas gift that looked like Mardi Gras on top. I love that he has embraced his December birthday, because he loved that Christmas birthday cake!

He got some fun gifts from his friends and had a blast playing with them.

We rested for a bit after D’s friends left and then we headed to Zoo Lights.

The boys had a blast and Daniel declared his birthday a success!

Beautiful day at the Zoo…

The stars aligned yesterday and my steroid shot and Z-pack had kicked in, Luke was better, Dan was better, Daniel was well, and it was in the upper 70′s! What a wonderful combination of events. We had already designated Saturday as No Screen Day. We have been cooped up inside sick and cold for so long that the Angry Bird and Jake and the Neverland Pirates addictions had taken over. We had already decided to go to the park in the gorgeous weather, but when Luke suggested the Zoo, we decided that he had a great idea. We packed up a picnic lunch and loaded up to go and enjoy the beautiful day! Us and the rest of the area. It was a zoo at the zoo! But it was a lot of fun.

Luke couldn’t wait to play on the playground.

I couldn’t get over how warm it was! The poor boys were sweating in their jeans~ Momma should have busted out the shorts!

Gotta love Luke’s big ol’ cheeses! He loved these flamingos.

We had to wait 45 mintues for the 15 minute train ride, but the boys love the train.

It was a wonderful day and it gave me some serious Spring fever!!
