Weekend by numbers…

The number of hours (at least) my kids spent playing outside in the beautiful weather!

The number of meals fixed for the family this weekend.

The number of times a day I have thought about eating a brownie… or anything other than a fruit, vegetable, or whole grain.  But, that’s a post for another day.

The number of hours we spent painting our back door and door frame.

The number of loads of laundry we washed this weekend.  And I’m still not caught up.  I can’t figure out how anyone gets caught up!

The number of hours we spent sanding down our back door and door frame.

Dan said we could never be on that decorating show where you have 3 days to completely re-do a room in your house since it took us 2 days to paint a door.  :)

The number of times Daniel connected with the ball at Baseball practice Sunday.  This is a big deal for him.  He’s having a hard time adjusting to machine pitched baseball.

The number of days D3 had off from school this weekend.

The number of mornings I was able to sleep until 8:00. This is really sleeping in since kids!

Great weekend!!

Wonderful Easter Weekend and the Camera Challenge…

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! The temperature was wonderful and we stayed busy!

I, however, don’t have the best selection of pictures. I was quite camera challenged this weekend.

Saturday we ran a few errand and finally dyed Easter Eggs.

Luke dyed his eggs using a whisk. I got that great idea from Family Fun. It keeps his fingers- or whole hand- from getting in the dye. I just put the egg inside the whisk and he put it in the cup himself.

Saturday night Daniel went to a Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt.

I forgot my camera that night! I really wanted to get some pictures, because it was such a cute, fun egg hunt. The kids played and ate dinner and when it got dark out, the adults hid the eggs and then the kids went out to hunt the eggs with their flashlights.

It was the most peaceful egg hunt I’ve ever seen! The kids had a ball.

I continued with the trend of bad pictures on Easter Sunday as well. I didn’t take any before pictures of the Easter baskets…

only the aftermath.

Then there was the pressure of the family picture… I’m not sure how I got talked into that one.

There is the ‘sun is way too bright’ version:

And the ‘one member of the family crying because Mommy got onto him for constantly making faces because the sun is too bright’ version:

Then we tried to get pictures of the boys together.

Daniel picked out his clothes this year for Easter. The boy loves to dress up.

We went to a great morning of worship and then headed back home for an Easter lunch. There was also a mega nap thrown in there too. Can’t beat that kind of day…or weekend!

Spring Break at the Lake…

We’ve had a wonderful Spring Break! We spent a lot of time outdoors and a lot of time relaxing.

We ate entirely too much and I spent many hours sitting on the sunny deck reading (apparently re-reading) a book.

I took out entirely too many of these things:

And read Dear John. I was convinced I missed this Nicholas Sparks book (love him), but I’m remember the whole thing as I’m reading. Apparently I’ve read the thing, but I don’t remember the ending. Only a few more pages and I’ll be done then I can watch the movie.

The kids played like crazy and we were blessed with beautiful days. They even played well together all week. Look, I have proof.

Awww…. Brotherly love. J

Dan came for the weekend and spent most of his time fishing with my Pawpaw- who caught like 4 little bitty fish.

We couldn’t have asked for a better or more relaxing Spring Break week.

Now I have to get ready for school… and work…

And reality.

How many days until summer break?

Asking and receiving…

I think I might have gotten that warmer weather that I was asking for.  The kids have been able to play outside almost every day for the past week (expect for yesterday during some awful storms!).  That is a much needed answer to prayer!

I’ve been dealing with two active boys indoors for months on end.  They needed to run… and squeal…. and slide…. and pretend to shoot things.

I’m going to have to look back at these posts in July when it’s 110 degrees outside and remember to not complain!!

Another answer to prayer was that after Luke woke up from his mega 2.5 hour nap on Sunday he was back to his cheery little self.

We peeked in his mouth and saw a new tooth had popped through.  I didn’t even begin to think of 2 year molars, but that was his issue.  Yay- no strep throat!

My prayer request of this weekend is that I would pass the last of my tests to get my teacher certification!  It’s been a little while since college… like 11 years.

Wow… I really shouldn’t have done that math.  I get so nervous now!  I don’t think I ever got nervous before a test in college.  Blah!

I’m also praying for continued nice weather next week for our Spring Break!  It comes that time in the school year where you need a break…. and it’s here!

I’m lookin forward to some time at the lake!

Our weekend…

We’ve had a nice weekend of relaxing and working.
Mostly my relaxing and Dan’s working.  Ha!

Things that our family members have done this weekend:

* played at a  friend’s house.
* read a book at the elementary school for Read Across America.

Read Across America

*Had a church yard sale.
*Read a lot about restaurants at Disney World.

* Booked a Disney vacation.
*Watched Up for the first time.  It’s about time!

Up-movie-disney-08.jpg

* Tried to not cry during Up.
* Slept on the floor in the Living Room.

*Played a lot outside.
* Took a major nap on the couch.

*Baked cookies.
*Taught Sunday School.

*Enjoyed a great worship service.
* Washed a sink full of dishes… several times.

Plus much more!  I’m praying for a good week and that the 2.5 hour nap that Luke took and all the cuddling that he did and the fussing he did about his mouth doesn’t mean he has strep throat!
