This time last week…

I was…

Eating too much food,

Sipping and stroking,

Shopping,

And relaxing.

While my boys were doing this….

having a {despicable, tent-filled, fishy weekend}

Now I’m back to reality.

Thankfully, it’s a pretty good reality.

*Thanks Momma for the fun weekend and Dan for being such a great husband and father!*

Thanksgiving Break…

We’ve had a busy past couple of weeks heading up to Thanksgiving. Dan had a HUGE project to work on and both boys had school programs. Daniel also had Colonial Day at school where he dressed like a colonial boy and I didn’t get the first picture {it’s a trend of mine with this post!}

Both boys sang their little hearts out and did awesome during their programs.

After our crazy couple of weeks, we were ready for our Thanksgiving Break.  We headed up to my parents house for our break and  I took all of two pictures the entire time. Obviously I haven’t been feeling the photographer role lately.

The first picture I took was of Luke and my Pawpaw looking at Black Friday ads. Now, everything about that sentence warms my heart!

They were too cute.

The second picture I took was of my horrible pecan pie.

I’m not sure what happened to it, but it was a sad, sad little pie. I started to cut into and it just completely fell apart.

Martha Stewart does not reside within me.

And I’m perfectly okay with that.

I did successfully make my Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie however, so all became right with the world once more.

The week also involved Christmas shopping, Harry Potter watching {two thumbs up!}, enormous amounts of food eating, family time spending, Black Friday shopping {with D3 no less}, Christmas picture taking, and much more that will live on in my mind… just not on my camera card.

Random is my middle name….

I have been listening to the new Taylor Swift CD on repeat. Love it! You can download it on amazon.com right now for $3.99! Can’t beat that.

This time change is killing me. I know I was supposed to get an extra hour of sleep in there, but no one gave that memo to my kids. Who got up at 5:00 on Sunday morning. And then 6:00 each morning after. I’m wiped by 8:00 each night!

We rented Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers from Netflix and the kids are loving it. J They are singing the theme song all the time now. Ch..ch..ch…Chip and Dale… Rescue Rangers….

 Luke fell out of his bed AGAIN this morning. L He fell out one night last week and scared us to death. Poor baby needs to stop falling and hitting his noggin on the hardwood floor.

I still have a Halloween mat on the front porch and a Halloween sign out front. Maybe I should move those…

Oh, and clean my car. Oh my goodness is it a pit right now. And the back is all muddy from our trek to the Pumpkin Patch in the rain. When was that? Like 2 weeks ago?

I should possibly stop blogging and take care of a few of these thing…. Like the mound of laundry I also have to take care of.

Randomness…

Luke had a walking field trip to the Fire station this week. He was being such a bear when I dropped him off at school that I decided that if I went with him on the field trip, he would just whine instead of enjoy himself. His class headed out about 30 minutes before mine, so when I arrived with my class his class was leaving. I snuck a picture of him walking with his buddy as they were headed back to school. It was such a hard decision to not go with him, but I really think he did better without me there. {one of those not so fun mommy choices! :-( }

This is my FAVORITE time of year! Love all things fall, so I’m excited that October. The weather is awesome and it finally feels like fall!!! Hooray!!

I was brave this week and tried a new recipe. I love watching Aarti on Food Network. She has fun recipes that bring Indian spices into familiar American foods. Anyway, I tried her I Ain’t Chicken Chicken. The recipe called for skin-on/bone-in chicken breasts. Well, this is how I typically feel about cooking skin-on/bone-in chicken breasts:

But… the food was delicious! The whole family enjoyed it.  I made the roasted potatoes with it and some pan fried okra.  Yummy!

And last, but definitely not least….this is one of my favorite Daniel writings I have come across! J Love it!

D3’s latest happenings…

Daniel likes to keep things going! Here are some of his latest happenings…

Lego Club
Daniel wants to start a Lego Club. He has it all planned out. He know who he wants to invite, and how to set up Lego stations in his room and he informed us that he needs to buy a pack of white t-shirts, so that they can make their own club t-shirts.

We find this so cute and creative and he is so excited that we think we’re going to try and put together a little Lego party next weekend. We’ll see how this goes…

Kideos
The latest Family Fun magazine had a list of good websites for kids, so Daniel is making his way through the list. Right now he is sticking with Kideos. It’s a website with little video clips that are okay for kids. Kinda’ like Youtube for kids. He will sit over at the computer watching these little clips while laughing his head off! It’s fairly entertaining {for a little while, anyway}

Wimpy Kid
I went to pick Daniel up from school the other day and he had a book in front of his face that he would not put down. He was literally walking to the car reading , getting in the car reading, had to have a teacher shut the door for him in carpool, because he was reading… He had checked out Diary of a Wimpy Kid from the school library and couldn’t put the thing down. I haven’t read this one, some I’m crossing my fingers that it’s okay. He of course finds the parts where they say ‘fart’ extremely hilarious! I rented the movie for him from Netflix and we’re watching that in the next day or two, so I shall see what he’s into.

Harry Potter
Another book series that he is REALLY into is Harry Potter. He started reading the first one this summer. He reads some, then Dan and I read the bulk of it to him and night for his bedtime story. When he’s done with the book, then he gets to watch the movie. Well, since school’s started he has read the 2nd book and watched the movie and has now moved onto the 3rd book.

He can now be found running around the backyard pointing a stick and saying ‘Expelliarmus‘ and calling me Hermione.

Pen Pal
Lastly, some big news with Daniel is that he has a penpal. I honestly think I’m probably as excited (or more) about this as he is. My dad works with a few people in England and Daniel has always thought that was super cool. Well, one of the guys has a 7 year old son, so they thought the boys might enjoy being penpals.

D3 received his first letter last week and was super excited. He didn’t understand several words, so we had to Google them, so he would know what they meant {grotto and cricket being two}. Anyway, Daniel wrote the longest note he has ever written and we mailed it off the day after he received his letter.

I hope this continues. I think it’s fun and a good learning experience! I got an Atlas last week and we looked up England tried to find where the little boy lives.

I think those are the big things going on with Daniel at the moment. Well, besides being in 2nd grade, and being invited to a birthday party of a friend he hasn’t seen in over a year {which made him super excited}, and starting karate Tuesday, and….
