Oh, yea. I have a blog…

My poor little blog, with it’s hit and run posts! I can’t seem to get the blogging thing together here lately. Our extremely busy May has been replaced by an extremely busy June.

This picture of Luke about sums it up:

He’s sleeping upright in the cart at Target. Ha!

We started our month with an incredibly important day for Dan. And I didn’t take the first picture! I can’t believe it. I had to snag these from Facebook! Dan was ordained as an Elder of the United Methodist Church.

He has worked so hard and the service was just incredible. I’m so proud of him. He is a wonderful pastor!

For some reason this year I volunteered to direct our church’s VBS. I’m not sure what I was thinking. Ha! I’m only kidding really. I love VBS. It is surely a big job though. I think things went well and the kids had a ball. I think most of my May/June busyness stemmed from coordinating VBS.

This was Luke’s first year as a VBS participant and he LOVED it. He had so much fun and I think he learned a lot. He loved the Worship time. He has been singing the songs all week.

I loved seeing him so into singing worship songs. His other favorites were snack and playdough time. J

Daniel has always loved VBS, so he had a wonderful time as usual. He had some of his best buds there, so that’s always a plus!

He’s gotten so big, by the way. I just can hardly take it. He acts so grown up now. {When he’s not fighting with his brother. J}

My VBS week brought back a lot of memories of my days as a Children’s Ministry Coordinator. I did enjoy that job!

We followed up VBS with a mini trip to the lake for Father’s Day.

I’m hoping that our summer will now take a chilled out, but fun pace. And who knows, maybe I can blog more often about it?!

The last several weeks…

The weeks before school let out were full of all sorts of fun things for the boys. Like Luke’s Pajama Day.

This is a major event in the preschool calendar. J Luke was beyond excited and super proud of his new Scooby Doo pajamas.

Daniel had fun days at school too, like Jellybean Field Day and Water World. I was subbing at his school both of those days, so I only got to peak at him a few minutes and snapped a quick pic at Water World.

Water World was WILD, but the kid had a blast, of course!

Daniel also tested for his next belt in Karate and received an orange belt. He was so excited, because he was a yellow/white stripe and thought he was testing for yellow, but got orange.

It was a nice surprise for him. He’s really enjoyed Karate this year. He’s decided to take a break in the summer, but will go back in the Fall to work on that next belt!

Before they had their belt ceremony they had a Family Karate Day where family members could go do the warm ups with the Karate students. Luke loved every minute of that! I think Dan did, too. J

We enjoyed a quick trip to the lake before Daniel’s last week of school.

The boys, of course, had a ball~ they always do. Luke was being a bit of a stinker and acted like he might die on the spot if he didn’t have sunglasses. So, here is Luke swimming in my sunglasses {in the FREEZING pool water}.

Daniel had Awards Day on his last day of school. He received a few awards like All A Honor Roll and a music award.

He insisted that all of the kids HAD to wear their school t-shirt. So, I put up his collared shirt and ironed his school shirt. So that he and one other friend would have it on!!

I *think* the little stinker might have made that up. J

It’s been a great school year {and a super busy May} but we are ready for a bit of a break.

May our summer be filled with more hugs than fussing. J

Weekend Update…

We started off our weekend by taking the boys to see Rio. Luke saw a commercial for it and then woke up Friday morning and asked if we were going to see “The Angry Birds Movie.” We have the Angry Birds Rio game and Luke has a mild Angry Birds obsession, so he was all about this movie. He was so excited to be there that I thought he would never be quiet! I’m sure the people around us thought the same thing! He finally calmed down and quieted down and enjoyed the movie.

We spent Saturday morning cleaning the house. The boys worked so hard. I walked by Daniel’s room to see this:

He moved his bunk beds to the other side of his room so he could sweep. I don’t know how he moved the thing!

Daniel had a birthday party in the afternoon and had an absolute ball! There were 14 boys running around and jumping in a bounce house. It was a testosterone filled party and Daniel didn’t want to leave!

While we were gone, Luke tripped and hit his head on the computer desk. I don’t know how he did split his head any worse than he did. It looked so rough!

The boys and I went to Hobby Lobby to get palm branches for Palm Sunday and Luke was nice enough to model for me. Look at his poor little head!

Luke was full of laughs this weekend~ as usual.   I caught him singing Baby (yes, the Justin Bieber song) to the top of his lungs outside.  It was too funny.  He also sang Gloria Patri for me.  {Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.  Amen.}

He really is getting into his church songs these days.

Evidently I like to hold the camcorder sideways. I can’t figure out how to turn the video, so…. go ahead and tilt your head to the side. :-)

Luke had a rather rough time at church Sunday and lost computer and iPad time. When we got home, he informed me that he went to his room and “prayed for God to help me be sweet this day.”  Melt my heart.  Isn’t that a good prayer for us all?!

Another Beautiful Weekend…

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged in a week! Well, except for my Sunday Scripture yesterday. I keep sitting down to blog and it just doesn’t happen. We had another great weekend and we are loving this warm weather! I’m afraid it’s going to get snatched away from me soon, because this is too good to be true in February. J Gorgeous weather for Spring Break surely would be nice, though!

My parents came to visit this weekend and the boys loved every minute of it! We went to the park for a picnic Saturday and the weather was just perfect. The boys sat and swung with Papa forever.

I couldn’t believe how calm they were! Guess they were soaking in the great weather too.

Papa also introduced them to Tom the Talking Cat (on the iPad) and they laughed forever at that silly cat.

My parents took the boys out to eat Saturday night and Dan and I were able to have a date night. Those are much too few and far between. We certainly did enjoy ourselves! We had a nice, quiet dinner and then browsed Target and Book-a-million. We know how to live it up, don’t we? J It was wonderful really!

Daniel even took a 2 1/2 hour nap on Sunday!  This never happens.  It’s exhausting enjoying the sunshine and hanging with your grandparents! :)

I’m loving these beautiful weekends!!!

This {past} week…

Like all weeks , this past one was full of big things and small… ups and downs… trivial and not so trivial…

*I took my newest favorite picture of my two kiddos.

I know they are mine, but I sure do think they super cute kids!

*Dan went before the Board of Ordained Ministry and was approved as elder in full connection! Big news for my hard working hubby! Can’t wait for his Ordination ceremony in June! Congrats, babe!!

*Dan ended up getting the flu. Again. Unbelievable really. He was able to get into the Dr. and get Tamiflu this time, so it hasn’t been as bad as… I dunno… when he had it 5 weeks ago!!

*my kid’s ate smiley toast for breakfast.

*It rained and was cold every day. Ugh. I am not enjoying winter this year. I’m much more of a warm weather person than I realized! I’ve spent entirely too many years living in Florida to put up with cold weather now!

*My kids haven’t played outside in a week! This is never good. J Actually, they have been really good, but little boys need to RUN!

*the boys wanted their picture made with their Daddy when he got home from church Sunday night. They were already in their jammies.

Can you tell that they pick out their own pajamas? How many different patterns can they mix?

*Luke learned how to work the TiVo remote. Lord help us all.

*We busted out the Cars cars and car mat this week for Luke. Ever since he got Mater’s Tall Tales DVD for his birthday, he’s really been into Mater and the gang. And he has had Cars on repeat in the car for a while now. He’s loving it. J Daniel was really into Cars at the age too.

*Daniel has a report due next week on what career he wants when he grows up. He was trying to decide between Policeman, Pastor and Exterminator. Ha! This completely cracked me up. They have to dress up like their career choice, so I think he was wanting to wear a mullet wig and some leather. Ha! Too much Billy the Exterminator anyone?
{By the way, he chose Pastor}
