Random Blogging…

Well, blogging in 2012 is non-existant so far! And it’s already the 15th day in – yikes! My first few days of January have been filled with strep throat and trying to get back to work. I had been off for over a month, so getting back into the swing of things has been challenging to say the least! In order to get a blogpost up, I’m going for random. When am I not random? I’m not so sure, but here we go…

* I’m blogging from my ipad for the first time. We will see if I’m capable of such a thing! :)

* We started off our year with Daniel getting strep throat and then I was next in line. It’s the total pits and I wish adults could recover as fast a kids!

*Daniel earned his purple belt in karate in December. He’s super proud and really enjoying karate.

* I might should not own up to the fact that I’m a soap fan, but I am and I’m sad that One Life to Live had their last episode Friday! I’ve watched that show my entire life {ratting you out there too, Momma :) } and it’s been my one that I’ve DVR’d since Daniel was born. It’s always been my kid naptime show. No more…

* Daniel got a few gift cards for his birthday and Christmas and was dying to spend them after Christmas. He had $65 and managed to buy $100 worth of Legos and a new game for his DS. That’s my bargain shopper! He was so excited to get 2 huge Lego sets for half off.

*Luke was also excited to use his gift cards… for what else? Batman, of course. They now make Batman legos. After Christmas. Guess who wants them all?

* We went to Golden Corral last night {we haven’t been in ages} and they now have a chocolate fountain that my kiddos thought was the best thing ever. There was ridiculous amounts of chocolate on our children and their plates!
Chocolate covered strawberries for my strawberry lover

*I need a lot more practice on this ipad blogging thing. I’m too used to my computer.

* Have I mentioned my love of teacher blogs? Since I got my new job they are saving me with there awesome activities! That and teacherspayteachers.com.

* Luke is really into The Magic Treehouse books right now. I thought he might want to read a chapter book and I was right. He is loving them. I had book 1 at school, so he wrote me a note the other day to put with my school things, so that I would bring the book home for him.

*That’s all for now!

And the Worst Blogger award of 2011 goes to….

Me!

I’ve never let my blog sit so long without an update!

It has been so crazy~busy around here! I want to keep up my blog, because I love looking back and seeing what we were doing at certain points in our lives.

The major reason that I have not been around this {pretty, fall~ thanks to Dan} blog is that my hours at my new job were doubled! Awesome for me, but not the ole’ bloggy. I now have a full morning of reading groups and 3 afternoon math groups.

Daniel’s karate, Luke’s soccer, and my poor hubby’s ankle have also kept things busy around these parts.

I’m definitely having to adjust to this working mom thing. I’m not full-time, but pretty close and then there is so much planning, since this is my first year doing this!

My poor printer and google search bar are exhausted. And can I give another shout out to teacher blogs. Love you! They have been so helpful.

Number 9 AKA Luke is LOVING soccer. He can’t wait until his soccer games and plays really hard and cheers on his teammates when he is taking a break. He’s scored several goals including 2 for the other team Thursday. J How dare they switch which goal is ours with a bunch of 4 year olds! ;)

Dan is hanging in there and still coaching on crutches.

You can see him in the background of the picture above.

He’s scheduled for another Dr. appointment Monday for his ankle. He’s made some progress, but not a lot. Still no weight on it yet and we’re almost at one month since he hurt it. Poor guy is SO tired of the crutches and being unable to walk on his foot.

Daniel had a program last week. It was called Educations Rocks and it was cute. He had a speaking part. The picture quality is awful, I just had my cell phone and was a mile away from him.

He also started riding the bus last week. He thinks it’s the greatest thing (thank goodness). I was having to do so much rushing around to get the kids after work, that this has worked out just great! They let him off right in front of the house, since we live on a busy road. We swore we would try not to do the bus with the kids, but this bus driver runs a tight ship, so I feel better about it! He has a couple of really good buddies on the bus, so that really helps.

I’m going to really try to blog just little bits through the week, that way it’s not such a daunting task! I want to be able to remember this crazy time in our lives. This time where Simply Cindy’s life is a little less simple!

Journaling…

I think journaling might run in our family.

I kept a journal most of my growing up years and kept up with all kinds of crazy things there. Now as an adult I have this public form of a journal Simply Cindy. I try to keep it updated.  I want to be able to look back years from now and be able to remember little details of my life.

Dan kept a journal some growing up as well. And now he has his platform over at Church and Tea where he is able to write down his thoughts and experiences.

Well, last Sunday as I was sitting in the worship service, I look over and see Daniel concentrating very hard. He had his baggie full of paper and crayons and was writing away. When he was done, he let me read what he wrote.

Here’s the translation if needed:

At Disney World we are going to the Barnstormer. And we might go to the Lego Store and buy a pack. And we are going to eat dinner with Pooh (the Crystal Palace). By Daniel

I love that he chose on his own to journal about his excitement over our Disney trip (even though maybe he should have been listening to his Daddy ;) ).

I think journaling might run in our family…. and a love for Disney World. J

Blog slump, Broken camera, and Brad Paisley…

I’m in a total blogging slump. I’ve had nothing to say for the entire month of February. So sad I’m sure. J My camera broke last month and I swear I don’t know how to blog without a picture. It’s part of my extremely visual nature. We’ve got to get a camera pronto! We’ve missed such good pictures opportunities- like our Brad Paisley concert last Friday. It was awesome! See…

It’s really him, I promise. This is what he looks like through a camera phone. And we were only 2 rows back!!! We had 14th row seats, which we were super excited about and when we got there, we saw that the stage jutted out right beside where we were sitting. We had the best seats ever, it was great!

Miranda Lambert opened for him and she was really good too. Super spunky. Here she is:

It’s really her, I promise.

We also took a picture of ourselves… out… without children… at a concert…

It’s really us, I promise.

Yep, my next step after pressing post here is to go find a camera.

Then maybe I will have more to blog about.

Or not.

The letter of the Day is…. R!

I saw this letter tag on Faith‘s blog and decided to play along. She gave me the letter R. So, here are 10 things I like that start with the letter R.

  1. Reading

I love reading. Books, blogs, magazines… I love it all. I just finished up the Twilight series which I became obsessed with. ;)
Now I want to read The New Six-Point Plan for Raising Happy, Healthy Children by John Rosemond. I recently read his book Making the Terrible Twos Terrific and loved it. He’s a great Christian parenting author.
I also really love to read to the kids in my class and my two boys. And they in turn love reading too.

  2. Road Trips

I love, love, love to travel. I’m always wanting to go somewhere. We went to Disney World for our big vacation last year and had the best time. This year Dan and I are going on a cruise and I am so excited!!

  3. Rainy Days

I love a rainy day…. If I get to stay home. And even better if I get to stay home in my pajamas and possibly lounge around in bed and watch TV. Lazy, much?

  4. Restaurants

I love going out to eat. It’s almost like a little mini vacation. Yummy food that I did not have to prepare and someone cleans up for me! Sounds great. J

  5. Roaming around Target or Old Navy

I love roaming around (mostly) Target and seeing what they have. I don’t always have to buy something, but they have such cute stuff and I love browsing.

  6. Roast in the crockpot

One of my favorite meals. So yummy and so easy. J

  7. Resting with Dan in the evenings

This is one of my most favorite things to do. We get the kids in bed, pop popcorn and watch our TiVoed shows together. It’s *almost* like a mini date.

  8. Recording shows on TiVo

#7 led me to #8. I love, love my TiVo and am always recording stuff to watch. I would probably never see anything if it weren’t for my TiVo. And wouldn’t that be a shame?

  9. Rearranging Furniture

I’ve gotten somewhat better about this, but I’m always wanting a change. Living room furniture is the worst… and my classroom at school… and the boys’ rooms…

  10. Red Velvet Cake

Mmmm….. my 3rd food related item. I love red velvet cake. So does D3. He has requested it for his birthday cake for two years in a row now. That totally cracks me up- what can I say? He has great taste.

Alright, so I might have cheated by not giving just one word answers, but I should get creativity points.  ;)

If anyone that reads my humble little blog would like a letter, just let me know. I promise no Qs or Xs.
