The last several weeks…

The weeks before school let out were full of all sorts of fun things for the boys. Like Luke’s Pajama Day.

This is a major event in the preschool calendar. J Luke was beyond excited and super proud of his new Scooby Doo pajamas.

Daniel had fun days at school too, like Jellybean Field Day and Water World. I was subbing at his school both of those days, so I only got to peak at him a few minutes and snapped a quick pic at Water World.

Water World was WILD, but the kid had a blast, of course!

Daniel also tested for his next belt in Karate and received an orange belt. He was so excited, because he was a yellow/white stripe and thought he was testing for yellow, but got orange.

It was a nice surprise for him. He’s really enjoyed Karate this year. He’s decided to take a break in the summer, but will go back in the Fall to work on that next belt!

Before they had their belt ceremony they had a Family Karate Day where family members could go do the warm ups with the Karate students. Luke loved every minute of that! I think Dan did, too. J

We enjoyed a quick trip to the lake before Daniel’s last week of school.

The boys, of course, had a ball~ they always do. Luke was being a bit of a stinker and acted like he might die on the spot if he didn’t have sunglasses. So, here is Luke swimming in my sunglasses {in the FREEZING pool water}.

Daniel had Awards Day on his last day of school. He received a few awards like All A Honor Roll and a music award.

He insisted that all of the kids HAD to wear their school t-shirt. So, I put up his collared shirt and ironed his school shirt. So that he and one other friend would have it on!!

I *think* the little stinker might have made that up. J

It’s been a great school year {and a super busy May} but we are ready for a bit of a break.

May our summer be filled with more hugs than fussing. J

Least Favorite Thing…

In my last post, I listed off a lot of my favorite things.  Well, after having a great Spring Break week we ended it with one of my least favorite things…

The Stomach Flu!

Ugh…. There were 7 of us at the lake cabin and 6 of us got the stomach flu!  Not the way that I wanted to end our fun, relaxing week.  Yuck!

Lake Halloween…

We went up to my parent’s lake place Friday night and Saturday. Usually two weekends in October they do Halloween activities and the boys love it. Who wouldn’t love some extra Trick-or-Treating??

We went to a “flea market” and ate all forms of fried foods. Can’t beat some good fried dough! After bouncing around in a bounce house for a while, Luke conked out with Nana.

He woke up just in time for campsite trick or treating. He was not quite awake and needed much encouragement and reminding of what Trick or Treating was.

Luke refused to look at the camera, but he was an awfully cute Mickey Mouse!

It didn’t take him long to get in the groove!

Daniel was Obi Wan Kenobi from Star Wars the Clone Wars. Several people thought he was the Burger King guy, which totally offended him! Ha!

As I was taking the boys’ picture in front of these pretty fall decorations, Luke sat in a mum. I mean full on sat in it!

That poor little mum will never be the same!

The night ended with Daniel missing the Haunted Hayride through the woods and the Gators losing to Mississippi State {I mean, come on!! It was Home Coming!!!}. There was much crying all around.

All in all it was a lot of fun though!!

Lessons I’ve Learned This Summer…

Family vacations are the best.

The gigantic lollipop that seems like a good idea during the high of a vacation is a bad idea in the reality of after vacation. {Don’t buy these monstrosities, Cindy!! Don’t do it!}

Fleas are evil, evil little gross creatures!

The Summer Vacation Chart is actually a doable and fun little tool to keep activities {other than video games and TV watching} happening during the summer.

S’mores are yummy {even made in the microwave}.

Vacation Bible School songs can give your preschooler a soundtrack for the entire summer.

Several trips to lake sprinkled through the summer is muy enjoyable.

Kids swimming in the pool with no fear and not clinging to their momma is awesome!

My seven year old can read Harry Potter. {He LOVED it.} {This is a completely shameless brag, but it is my blog after all, right? :-) }

Being “off schedule” is not necessarily a bad thing.

Summer with these two keeps things interesting!!

The Beloved Golf Cart…

We spent part of our week this week at the lake.  My kids adore it there.  And Luke is completely in his element out there.

The swimming pool, the boat rides, and his very favorite: riding down trails on the golf cart.

The boys and I were out riding on the golf cart on Monday and it just stopped. I checked the gas and it was full, so I had no idea what the deal could have been. So, I tried to push the golf cart off to the side of the road, out of the way. Well, it started going down the little hill with both boys on it, so I quickly ran after it and hit the break with my hand. Good times.

Long story short, a guy that works out at the lake fixed the golf cart for my parents and came to bring it back. Luke saw him at the door and asked him if he fixed the golf cart. When he said ‘yes’ Luke pushed past my mom and went out and hugged the man!

This totally cracked me up. He is a somewhat shy little fellow, but if you fix his beloved golf cart the shyness goes out the window!
