At five…

It’s official.  Luke is five.  He had his 5 year old shots this week to prove it.  He is set for Kindergarten and thrilled to have no more shots until he’s 12.  I am going to have such a hard time with this one going to Kindergarten.  I can’t believe my baby is so big!

The first time I started to ask him questions, he told me: “My talk is all out of batteries.”  Ha!  That is so Luke.  His batteries got charged and he answered my questions the other day.  So, here are Luke’s favorites at 5!

Random Blogging…

Well, blogging in 2012 is non-existant so far! And it’s already the 15th day in – yikes! My first few days of January have been filled with strep throat and trying to get back to work. I had been off for over a month, so getting back into the swing of things has been challenging to say the least! In order to get a blogpost up, I’m going for random. When am I not random? I’m not so sure, but here we go…

* I’m blogging from my ipad for the first time. We will see if I’m capable of such a thing! :)

* We started off our year with Daniel getting strep throat and then I was next in line. It’s the total pits and I wish adults could recover as fast a kids!

*Daniel earned his purple belt in karate in December. He’s super proud and really enjoying karate.

* I might should not own up to the fact that I’m a soap fan, but I am and I’m sad that One Life to Live had their last episode Friday! I’ve watched that show my entire life {ratting you out there too, Momma :) } and it’s been my one that I’ve DVR’d since Daniel was born. It’s always been my kid naptime show. No more…

* Daniel got a few gift cards for his birthday and Christmas and was dying to spend them after Christmas. He had $65 and managed to buy $100 worth of Legos and a new game for his DS. That’s my bargain shopper! He was so excited to get 2 huge Lego sets for half off.

*Luke was also excited to use his gift cards… for what else? Batman, of course. They now make Batman legos. After Christmas. Guess who wants them all?

* We went to Golden Corral last night {we haven’t been in ages} and they now have a chocolate fountain that my kiddos thought was the best thing ever. There was ridiculous amounts of chocolate on our children and their plates!
Chocolate covered strawberries for my strawberry lover

*I need a lot more practice on this ipad blogging thing. I’m too used to my computer.

* Have I mentioned my love of teacher blogs? Since I got my new job they are saving me with there awesome activities! That and teacherspayteachers.com.

* Luke is really into The Magic Treehouse books right now. I thought he might want to read a chapter book and I was right. He is loving them. I had book 1 at school, so he wrote me a note the other day to put with my school things, so that I would bring the book home for him.

*That’s all for now!

Five…

My little Luke is FIVE!! I’m pretty sure I just gave birth to him, but apparently not!

He was so excited about his birthday and tore right through his presents first thing. When your birthday is 2 days after Christmas, it’s hard to space your gift getting throughout the day.

He was super excited about his Imaginext toys and he loved his Where is My Hairbrush playdough. J He played with it all morning! He would make his Veggie Tales friend “hair” (aka playdough) grow and then cut it with his playdough scissors.

He also got a cool big boy Phineas and Ferb bike. It took him a little bit to warm up to it, but he loves it now. He rode it all through the house. J

We had chili for lunch (one of Luke’s favorites) and had some cake. He was so proud of his cake that he helped me make. It ended up this crazy hot pink color, but we all called it red. He mixed the batter and iced it and poured sprinkles and put the candles all himself. He was so proud.

We headed to the zoo in the late afternoon. We went to Zoo Lights for Daniel’s birthday and Luke was disappointed that the animals were sleeping, so we went to see them awake.

It was cold and nearly 4:00, so I was worried about how much fun the trip would be, but it was great! The animals were so active.

The rhinoceros walked right up to us and stuck his head over the fence. We didn’t dare touch him, but we could have! I didn’t even zoom in for this awesome picture above.

Animals that we don’t usually see moving around came right up to us and the lion was roaring over and over.

We told Luke that he was singing Happy Birthday to him. J We had such a great time and Luke loved every bit of it.

We went out for the birthday boy’s favorite meal: chicken nuggets and French fries.

All in all, I would say Luke had a fun day turning 5 years old!!

A Peak into my House…

If you were to peak into my house today you would see people wearing pajamas and playing with new toys (even a boy riding a new bike around the house).

If you were to peak into my house today you would see a Christmas tree waiting to be disassembled and a couch full of decorations ready for Christmas boxes.

If you were to peak into my house today you would see lots of people (and animals) resting and all of my pretty Christmas cards still hanging on the Christmas tree.

I made a Christmas card blessing ring this year and LOVE it!

If you were to peak into my house today you would see a big ole mess and a sick boy lying on the couch playing video games.

Actually, maybe it’s best that you don’t peak into my house today…
