Our Three Words…

I try not to discuss politics anymore than I have to, because I don’t like arguments. Even civilized ones- I just don’t like it. I am glad November 4th has arrived and has passed. I was tired of political commericials and phone calls and being bombarded with politics!  However, I would be remiss if I did not mention a historically significant week in our country in the summation of my week.

Our week in three words:

Our country elected an African American as President. No matter your politics, where you stand on issues or even your personal view of Barack Obama- this fact alone is amazing.

Our country now needs to be in prayer for our new president. He has a lot of work ahead of him.

I read a couple of blog posts this week about the election, that I actually really liked.

One is by a lady named Anne Jackson, who basically said regardless of who our president is we, the people, need to work together to better our country. Her post can be found here.

Also, Beth Moore had a very nice post on her blog this past week as well. You can find that here.

This has been an intense week, and I hope we are able to have a bit of a carefree weekend! Hope everyone has a great one!

Our Three Words…

Our week in three words:

It’s been such a hectic week and weekend. I’m still trying to get caught up! It all started with the kids getting sick last Sunday. They had colds and just felt crummy.

They did a lot of resting and watching TV.

D3 still wanted to play his last soccer game on Monday and then Tuesday he had a little party with his teammates. He got a trophy and was so darn excited!

Thursday at school we had a Dress Up day and Fall Festival. The kids came in costume and we have pumpkin crafts, pumpkin bowling, harvest snack, a costume parade and a party. I was exhausted after work that day! The kids had a ball though.

During all of this week, Dan has been working non-stop on school work, as usual, and his huge packet of paperwork, essays, sermons, and Bible studies due at the end of the month. He has been so, so busy lately.

He came in Friday afternoon and we loaded up the car, picked D3 up from school and headed up to my parents’ lake place for Trick or Treating. We got up there to find out that they were trick or treating on Saturday and not Friday. D3 handled it so well. I thought he would have a complete meltdown, but he did not.

Soooo….. Saturday became our big day of Halloween festivities.

We yard saled (is that a word?), we ate lunch at Cracker Barrel,

And we decorated my parent’s golf cart for Halloween.

Have I mentioned how much B loves the golf cart? He is obsessed!! He constantly wants to go ‘bye-byes.’

They had Halloween games set up for the kids. D3 really enjoyed that.

D3 entered a costume contest and all of the boys in his age group won. Ha! I guess they didn’t want to choose. Then the kids finally got to go Trick-or-Treating. I don’t have the best pics, because my camera battery died (it’s becoming a theme). So, these pics are from Dan’s cell phone.

B was not interested in looking at the camera, so this is the best shot I have of him. He grew to love his little Yoda costume and left the thing on forever. He learned real quick-like how and when to say ‘Trick or Treat’ and ‘Thank You.’

The kids ended up with full buckets and had a great time. Later that night they had a hay ride through the woods, which was a lot of fun. D3 was not too thrilled with the folks running out of the woods trying to scare us. B could have cared less. He just laid back in my lap and enjoyed the ride.

Sunday we had church, lunch, grocery shopping and trying to get caught up!

Oh, and Dan saw me working on this post and said our words should have been Trick or Treat. Yea, that probably would have been cuter, but I’m so not going back and redoing this! J

Hope you all have a great week!

The Pumpkin Patch
The baby and I went on a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Thursday.

He was not as impressed with the pumpkins as I would have hoped. I wanted him to get this little one, just his size:

He picked it up and said ‘yuck’ and threw it down. Only my kid would not care about the pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. He was way more interested in the tractor.
Here he is loving the hayride:

Harvest Carnival
Today was D3′s Harvest Carnival at his school.
The kids seemed to really enjoy it. Lots of candy, games, moonwalks and hayrides- what kid wouldn’t like it?

Here’s D3 going down the big slide. Check out those nasty socks. Ha!

On the hayride:

B in his usual spot:

B loves trucks, so he was totally fascinated by the fire truck. The fireman grabbed him and put him up in the truck and he was not too thrilled, so Dan jumped up to make things better. He tends to like things better from a distance.

Hope you all are having a nice October weekend!

Our Three Words…

Our week in three words:

Show me the sign, bud.

Please. What are our three words?

Wait! Come Back!

Look at our poor little sign! What did it say?

Ahh…. Yep, we were ON FALL BREAK this week.

B and I only had one day of school this week, the rest of our week was fall break. Dan and D3 still had school, so it was just the baby and me most of the days.

We cleaned some.

We rested some.

We watched some TV. Normally, B isn’t into TV at all. I know he likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, because he will stop playing for 2 minutes and watch, but that is the extent of it. Well, I recently discovered Signing Time and he sat for the entire show. He loved it and was trying to sing along. I’m going to get him some of the Signing Time DVDs for his birthday or Christmas.

I watched Ellen this week since I was home and I laughed so hard on Tuesday, when she had Dennis Quaid do a hidden camera prank.

Funny stuff.

D3 has 2 soccer games today and we are planning on going to the zoo after church on Sunday, so we should have a nice weekend ahead of us.

Hope y’all have a great weekend!

My head is so stuffy and my nose is so runny.  Ugh.  I hate having a cold!  Maybe today is the worst of it, and I will be better soon.

Have a good weekend!
