Our Three Words: Christmas Week Edition…

My week in three words:

This has been the ultimate week for ups and downs.
My Mawmaw passed away on the morning of Christmas Eve.
The kids were beyond excited about Santa’s arrival that night.
We had a great family Christmas at home on Christmas Day. The boys were thrilled with their gifts and it was a nice, relaxing day.
The day after Christmas was my Mawmaw’s funeral.
The day after that (the 27th) was Luke’s 3rd birthday. He had an awesome day of playing as we celebrated his little life.

It was a week of sadness and happiness rolled into one. It was a week of celebrating lives. It was a week of family.

My Pawpaw, Mawmaw, Mom, Me, and Daniel as a baby.

My Mawmaw and Luke as a baby.

I’m very fortunate that my Mawmaw got to know my boys and love them! And I’m thrilled they got to know her.

She is a super special lady.

The big news around our house was D3 starting the first grade!  He was super excited and then got very nervous the first day.  He didn’t sleep a whole lot that night, but seemed to have a great first day.

Here he is that first morning:

He’s been having a bit of a hard time warming up to the idea of going to school each morning.  I’m sure it’s tough moving to a new school in a new grade and not knowing everyone.  It can also be a rude awakening when summer is over… sitting in class vs. playing outside all day!   I’m sure he will come around!

We’ve had the big first grade adjustment this past week… now coming up is the two year old class adjustment.  (And the 4 year old teacher with a new class adjustment).  Hope we have good news to report. :)

Our Three Words…

My week in three words:

Summer is wrapping up around here and this week has been full of all sorts of errands to get ready for school.  School supplies were bought, heads of hair cut, classrooms set up, we’ve met the teacher and are just about ready to go.

We’ve had a full week around here preparing for the new school year.  D3 is changing schools since we have moved and he is so excited.  I love that about him!  He said that his new school is “freaking him out, because it sounds so great.”  :)   We met his teacher on Thursday and he is super excited now.  His teacher seems great, but I *cannot* believe that he is going into first grade!  The room just seems so much older than Kindergarten.  We brought his school supplies:

He got to put those away while I filled out paperwork.  He has to have a clear or mesh backpack at this new school, so we went shopping and he fell in love with this one:

Much to my chagrin.  I was hoping for something a little less…. I dunno… clear.  Oh well, he loves it.

B is starting the 2 year old class.  I’m excited for him and praying that he does well there.  He’s not big on change AT ALL, so I’m praying that he loves it and warms up to it quickly.  I got him the cutest lunch box the other day.

I’ve also starting working in my room and organinzing my teaching things.  We start preschool a week after D3 starts school, so I still have a little while, but it takes a while to get things ready!

It’s hard to belive that the start of school is here!  Where did our summer go??

Our Three Words…

I haven’t done one of these in a while.

Our week in three words:

The birthday and Christmas countdowns have begun. D3 and I made a chain to countdown to his birthday, Christmas, and then his brother’s birthday.

Dan was smart and came up with the idea to color code the links, so we could countdown to all three events on one chain. The green are links until D3′s birthday and then red from D3′s birthday until Christmas, and then yellow from Christmas to B’s birthday. D3 tears one off each night before bed.

December is such a hectic time for us with both boys’ birthdays and Christmas, but I love it. They don’t know any different than to have their birthday right beside Christmas, and so far I think we’ve done a good job making a big deal about their birthdays and not lumping them into Christmas. Dan thought maybe I should do a PSA for sleeping in separate rooms during the month of March, but I love having Christmas babies! (and he might possibly kill me for saying that J)

D3 is super excited and B is also, even though he’s not sure why. He knows something is up though.

It might have something to do with the “teee” in the living room. It is filled with “balls” that B likes to take off and throw across the room. <sigh> Thank goodness for the purchase of shatterproof ornaments.

Our Three Words…

My week in three words:

It’s been a fairly stressful week for all of our family members (except for the boys and me on our Lazy Day Tuesday J). But I am going to look at our week through the positive lens of thankfulness.

Dan

I am thankful for a husband that is a hard worker and is able to balance all he has to balance and do it well. Dan is so stressed right now. He has had more to do this month than is really possible to do, but he is somehow getting it done. He wrote about that on his blog here. Actually I do know how he is getting it done- his complete faith in God. I am so thankful that I have a husband with a strong faith.

I’m also thankful that I have a husband that really cares for me and actually reads my blog and leaves sweet comments. J

D3
I am thankful that D3 is such a thoughtful boy. Every time that he has gotten a piece of candy out of his Halloween bag, he has gotten a piece for the entire family. He wants to share what he has and that warms my heart.

I am thankful also, that even though D3 is going through a bit of a hard time at the moment (maybe thanks to the above mentioned sugar high) and his Momma has had to fuss at him this week, he still writes things like this:

translation: I Love you Mommy Everyday

Blue
I am thankful for my sweet baby who is going through the terrible twos hard core, but still loves to gives hugs and kisses to anyone that will receive them

I’m thankful for a little guy who works so hard with his play and immediately wants to run to me and show me. His newest thing is to come running up to me with his latest block creation and say “Wow” so that I will rave about his awesome tower!

I am so thankful for all these boys that I get to share my life with.

Have a great weekend!!
