Lake Birthday…

We spent this past weekend out at the lake. Two weeks in a row must be some sort of record. Saturday was Dan’s birthday and we spent most of the day out on the boat.

This was my view most of the day:

Not a bad view. It sure was hot though!

We ate a yummy {albeit greasy} lunch and the boys tried fishing in the lake around the restaurant. Daniel caught a couple of fish, but moved too fast for me to get his picture.

Doesn’t he know Momma has a blog she’s trying to keep up? J

He met a little boy out there that was fishing too, so D3 gave his catches to that little guy.

Daniel was itching for us to stop the boat, so that he could jump in and swim. Papa finally did and Daniel was thrilled. I tried to take his picture here and also did a lousy job. The sun was so bright that I couldn’t tell that I got all water and only D3′s head.

Oh well. It’s him. I promise.

Luke took a lot of coaxing, but he finally got in. {But not before he had his life jacket AND his swimmies on. He loves those swimmies.}

We came back after many hours on the lake to have some birthday cake.

It was a fun, relaxing weekend!

Oh, yea. I have a blog…

My poor little blog, with it’s hit and run posts! I can’t seem to get the blogging thing together here lately. Our extremely busy May has been replaced by an extremely busy June.

This picture of Luke about sums it up:

He’s sleeping upright in the cart at Target. Ha!

We started our month with an incredibly important day for Dan. And I didn’t take the first picture! I can’t believe it. I had to snag these from Facebook! Dan was ordained as an Elder of the United Methodist Church.

He has worked so hard and the service was just incredible. I’m so proud of him. He is a wonderful pastor!

For some reason this year I volunteered to direct our church’s VBS. I’m not sure what I was thinking. Ha! I’m only kidding really. I love VBS. It is surely a big job though. I think things went well and the kids had a ball. I think most of my May/June busyness stemmed from coordinating VBS.

This was Luke’s first year as a VBS participant and he LOVED it. He had so much fun and I think he learned a lot. He loved the Worship time. He has been singing the songs all week.

I loved seeing him so into singing worship songs. His other favorites were snack and playdough time. J

Daniel has always loved VBS, so he had a wonderful time as usual. He had some of his best buds there, so that’s always a plus!

He’s gotten so big, by the way. I just can hardly take it. He acts so grown up now. {When he’s not fighting with his brother. J}

My VBS week brought back a lot of memories of my days as a Children’s Ministry Coordinator. I did enjoy that job!

We followed up VBS with a mini trip to the lake for Father’s Day.

I’m hoping that our summer will now take a chilled out, but fun pace. And who knows, maybe I can blog more often about it?!

Tales from my camera phone…

I was going through the pictures on my phone the other day and I evidently have never done that, because there were a lot and spanned about 2 years!

They aren’t the best quality, of course, but they were fun to look through. They went all the way back to I think Daniel’s Kindergarten year! He really wanted to do the Sling Shot thing at the mall. He got all strapped in and shot super high in the air. He loved it!

I absolutely love this picture from our beach trip- I think a year and a half ago now!

This is one of my very favorite Luke pictures. He fell in love with the Christmas train at Target and asked for it every time we went in the store. This is the day where he discovered the Christmas decorations were back out. We had to stand there and watch that train go round and round for a while every time we visited Target!

Here’s Daniel in a flight simulator during his First Grade field trip to the Space center.

Luke swinging at the park.

Pretending to be Buzz Lightyear.

Daniel with one of the tigers at our local shopping center. J He kept asking for a picture with them and I finally gave in!

Daniel and I out at dinner.

Dan and Daniel out at dinner.

The boys with the Cat in the Hat at the outlet mall.

This is from last week as Luke and I were headed to grocery shop:

I turned around and went back home and let him nap. He’s stopped napping, so if he falls asleep- I let him!

I loved looking back at our adventures camera phone style.  Now maybe I should clear some of those pictures out!

Seussical week…

It’s been a Dr. Seuss-filled week around here this week. We celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday in my classroom all week by reading lots of Dr. Seuss books and doing a few Dr. Seuss activities like these Cat in the Hats:

I love how different they all are. Pre-K artwork is the best. J

Daniel has celebrated all week at school as well. They ate green eggs and ham on Monday and wore silly socks on Tuesday. Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday and he dressed himself.

I thought he looked more cute than wacky. His shirt is inside out and he has 2 different socks and 2 different shoes and his hair is spiky. Although, I think he can pull off that spiky look pretty good.

Thursday was pajama day which was super exciting. J

And today is hat day.

Dan is up at an elementary school reading to a 2nd grade class as I type!  I think we’ve all gotten into the fun this year!

Daniel has enjoyed his week and the kiddos in my class.  I may have had to drink a lot more water this week after reading all of the tongue-twisting books, but  you’ve gotta’ love the rhyming philosophy of Dr. Seuss!

This {past} week…

Like all weeks , this past one was full of big things and small… ups and downs… trivial and not so trivial…

*I took my newest favorite picture of my two kiddos.

I know they are mine, but I sure do think they super cute kids!

*Dan went before the Board of Ordained Ministry and was approved as elder in full connection! Big news for my hard working hubby! Can’t wait for his Ordination ceremony in June! Congrats, babe!!

*Dan ended up getting the flu. Again. Unbelievable really. He was able to get into the Dr. and get Tamiflu this time, so it hasn’t been as bad as… I dunno… when he had it 5 weeks ago!!

*my kid’s ate smiley toast for breakfast.

*It rained and was cold every day. Ugh. I am not enjoying winter this year. I’m much more of a warm weather person than I realized! I’ve spent entirely too many years living in Florida to put up with cold weather now!

*My kids haven’t played outside in a week! This is never good. J Actually, they have been really good, but little boys need to RUN!

*the boys wanted their picture made with their Daddy when he got home from church Sunday night. They were already in their jammies.

Can you tell that they pick out their own pajamas? How many different patterns can they mix?

*Luke learned how to work the TiVo remote. Lord help us all.

*We busted out the Cars cars and car mat this week for Luke. Ever since he got Mater’s Tall Tales DVD for his birthday, he’s really been into Mater and the gang. And he has had Cars on repeat in the car for a while now. He’s loving it. J Daniel was really into Cars at the age too.

*Daniel has a report due next week on what career he wants when he grows up. He was trying to decide between Policeman, Pastor and Exterminator. Ha! This completely cracked me up. They have to dress up like their career choice, so I think he was wanting to wear a mullet wig and some leather. Ha! Too much Billy the Exterminator anyone?
{By the way, he chose Pastor}
