Thankful Thursday… on a Friday…

October, November and December are my absolute favorite times of the year. I just love all three. It was cool here today, so I’ve been in my long sleeve shirt snuggled under a blanket in my warm house relaxing on my day off of work and feeling super blessed.

Today, I am thankful for…

Changing seasons. I love the uniqueness of each one {although Fall’s my fav}

Cool temps and warm blankets.

My job. I am so fortunate to have a job that I enjoy.

Freedom. I am thankful for those willing to serve in our military to protect our freedoms.

Days off of work. I have loved having a relaxing day off. Days off from work are always a little treat.

Family days. I love days that we get to spend together as a family. Nothing necessarily on the agenda, just hanging out together.

Luke. I’m thankful for our resident crazy man! He is such a funny, sweet little guy.

Daniel. I’m thankful for my smart, witty little boy. He has such a love of life and learning.

Dan. I am super thankful for my wonderful husband. He is the perfect person for me to share my life with!

And the Worst Blogger award of 2011 goes to….

Me!

I’ve never let my blog sit so long without an update!

It has been so crazy~busy around here! I want to keep up my blog, because I love looking back and seeing what we were doing at certain points in our lives.

The major reason that I have not been around this {pretty, fall~ thanks to Dan} blog is that my hours at my new job were doubled! Awesome for me, but not the ole’ bloggy. I now have a full morning of reading groups and 3 afternoon math groups.

Daniel’s karate, Luke’s soccer, and my poor hubby’s ankle have also kept things busy around these parts.

I’m definitely having to adjust to this working mom thing. I’m not full-time, but pretty close and then there is so much planning, since this is my first year doing this!

My poor printer and google search bar are exhausted. And can I give another shout out to teacher blogs. Love you! They have been so helpful.

Number 9 AKA Luke is LOVING soccer. He can’t wait until his soccer games and plays really hard and cheers on his teammates when he is taking a break. He’s scored several goals including 2 for the other team Thursday. J How dare they switch which goal is ours with a bunch of 4 year olds! ;)

Dan is hanging in there and still coaching on crutches.

You can see him in the background of the picture above.

He’s scheduled for another Dr. appointment Monday for his ankle. He’s made some progress, but not a lot. Still no weight on it yet and we’re almost at one month since he hurt it. Poor guy is SO tired of the crutches and being unable to walk on his foot.

Daniel had a program last week. It was called Educations Rocks and it was cute. He had a speaking part. The picture quality is awful, I just had my cell phone and was a mile away from him.

He also started riding the bus last week. He thinks it’s the greatest thing (thank goodness). I was having to do so much rushing around to get the kids after work, that this has worked out just great! They let him off right in front of the house, since we live on a busy road. We swore we would try not to do the bus with the kids, but this bus driver runs a tight ship, so I feel better about it! He has a couple of really good buddies on the bus, so that really helps.

I’m going to really try to blog just little bits through the week, that way it’s not such a daunting task! I want to be able to remember this crazy time in our lives. This time where Simply Cindy’s life is a little less simple!

Eleven…

Eleven years ago today I married my wonderful husband. I’m still not sure where those eleven years have gone. They have flown by!

They have been full of ups and downs….

lots of moves, two crazy boys…

several jobs,  tons of fun….

but mostly lots and lots of love.

Happy Anniversary, baby! I love you!!!

Soccer Practice…

Luke loved his first soccer practice. Actually, he was beyond excited all day long to get out there and play soccer. So, I was wrong that it would take him 5 minutes into practice to get excited. He was thrilled beforehand!

Dan’s the coach, so I talked to Luke about being a good listener with Daddy. He informed me that he knew how to listen to a coach just like he did at t-ball and that he loved coaches.

Well, okay then.

His team is adorable. They are all tiny and four and pumped up to be there. All of the parents got good giggles from the sidelines. I can only imagine how cute the actual games will be.

We might, however, have hit a snag in the Dan as coach thing. He was playing Capture the Flag with the boys in the backyard on Friday night and really sprained his ankle. Like he couldn’t walk and we had to take him to Urgent Care because we were almost sure he had broken it. No break, but his ankle is all wrapped up, he’s on crutches and was told to rest with his leg propped up for 3-4 days. So, there is no way he can run around with four year olds playing soccer for a few weeks at least. I’m hoping another Dad can step up and help!

I still can’t believe he got hurt playing with the kids.

I guess we’re getting old {sorry, babe ;) }.

Dan’s Ordination: with pictures this time…

I posted last week about Dan’s ordination. I didn’t have any pictures, so my sister-in-law sent pictures she had taken on her iPhone {Thank you, Mary!!}

Dan was chosen to read scripture during the service, so this is him at the pulpit. I’m not sure I breathed during his reading. I was so nervous for him {I guess because he was surrounded by a lot of Bishops and Pastors!}, but he did an awesome job!

Dan was able to bring two Pastors and two family members up with him as he received his blessing and stole. Dan’s mom and I were the two family members, so we sat up front instead of with the rest of the family {one of the main reasons I had no pictures of my own!}. By the time Dan was called forward, my niece and nephews were ready to go {it was a rather long service}, so they watched from a TV in the chapel. So, the picture of Dan after receiving his stole is from a TV screen. J

Dan is right in the middle of the screen

As a side note, I think the kids did awesome during the service. It was rather super long and we’re talking about 5 kids ranging from 4-8 yrs.

After the service there was a reception, so we were able to get a couple of pictures there. Dan got pictures with his parents, brother and our family {but no sister~ how did that happen?}.

I’m so happy to now have pictures to document such a special day!  {Thanks again!!}
