Oh, yea. I have a blog…

My poor little blog, with it’s hit and run posts! I can’t seem to get the blogging thing together here lately. Our extremely busy May has been replaced by an extremely busy June.

This picture of Luke about sums it up:

He’s sleeping upright in the cart at Target. Ha!

We started our month with an incredibly important day for Dan. And I didn’t take the first picture! I can’t believe it. I had to snag these from Facebook! Dan was ordained as an Elder of the United Methodist Church.

He has worked so hard and the service was just incredible. I’m so proud of him. He is a wonderful pastor!

For some reason this year I volunteered to direct our church’s VBS. I’m not sure what I was thinking. Ha! I’m only kidding really. I love VBS. It is surely a big job though. I think things went well and the kids had a ball. I think most of my May/June busyness stemmed from coordinating VBS.

This was Luke’s first year as a VBS participant and he LOVED it. He had so much fun and I think he learned a lot. He loved the Worship time. He has been singing the songs all week.

I loved seeing him so into singing worship songs. His other favorites were snack and playdough time. J

Daniel has always loved VBS, so he had a wonderful time as usual. He had some of his best buds there, so that’s always a plus!

He’s gotten so big, by the way. I just can hardly take it. He acts so grown up now. {When he’s not fighting with his brother. J}

My VBS week brought back a lot of memories of my days as a Children’s Ministry Coordinator. I did enjoy that job!

We followed up VBS with a mini trip to the lake for Father’s Day.

I’m hoping that our summer will now take a chilled out, but fun pace. And who knows, maybe I can blog more often about it?!

embrace the camera…

We were out of town most of this past weekend and we returned to no internet. This is just a tragedy for this internet obsessed house. Isn’t that so sad? Ha! Well, it’s back just in time for me to embrace the camera.

My boys were in love with our hotel {or as Luke calls it: “the showtell”}. The favorite part, of course, was the pool.

We enjoyed one last swim before we left and snapped a quick self portrait.

It wouldn’t be a self portrait without cutting half of someone’s head off in the attempt, so here is the rest of Luke’s face:

Trying to {embrace the camera}…

Luke and I have been trying to get a self portrait on the camera phone here lately.   Trying being the key word.

I think we might need a little more practice.  :)

We Go Out Walkin’…

Daniel takes Karate a couple of times a week at the local sports center. Luke and I have sat in the room and watched Daniel practice his karate moves and entertained ourselves for the entire school year. Now that the weather is warmer, we sometimes sit on a little patio outside of Daniel’s room and enjoy the fresh air while we do things like color and read and play Angry Birds.

Well, Luke spotted the track that goes all away around the complex and really wanted to walk it. Goodness knows I need all the exercise I can get, so off we went. Luke was moving at a pretty good little speed. This should really not surprise me in the least.

He saw a couple of people run through the woods for a small section of the track. It catches right back up on the path. So, Mr. ‘I must explore every trail I see’ just had to check it out.

I love his confident little strut as he led me through the trail.

It turns out that the entire track is 1 mile. That’s a bit of a walk for a 4 year old, so my trusty side-kick plopped down on the ground.

This was the day of the Easter Egg Hunt at school, so that would explain the snake painted on his face. J

Daniel felt left out of our adventure, so we took him back the next day to show him what it looks like when people walk for their health. What a novel idea.

Mommy, Mommy…

We had our Mom’s Celebration at school this week. The kids sang cute songs for the moms and we had a little snack together. Luke was a wild man, which is par for the course here lately. He was full of intense expressions through all of the songs.

His energy is through the roof lately. Here is a bit of a video where he’s sweetly singing (and rocking) instead of being a nut.  :)

Mommy, Mommy I love you!

All of the classes made aprons for the moms and I made a little cookbook for the moms in my class. It turned out so cute!

I asked all of the kids what their favorite food was that their mom made and how to make it and then I compiled them together into a cookbook. It’s really hard to show how cute they turned out, because I blurred out all the personal info. Underneath where it says ________’s mom I pasted a picture that they drew of their mom.

The apron that Luke (and his teacher ;) ) made is precious!  It has both of our handprints and she embroidered Mommy and Me on the top.  Cute stuff.  :)
