Luke and the first days…

Bear with me and my nostalgia this week. Hopefully I’ll be back to my less sentimental self next week.

I always have to look back at previous first days on the first day. Here are Luke’s:

1st day, 4 years

1st day, 3 years

1st day, 2 years

He’s grown entirely too fast! Here is a comparison of Daniel and Luke on their first days in 4 year Pre-K:

Back to regularly scheduled posts soon.

Pre-K First Day…

Luke has been counting down the days until he could start Pre-K. He was not loving the fact that Daniel was going to school and he had to stay home. He has wonderful teachers and is going to have such a great year!

He would only let me take one picture and he’s squinting in the sun! Doesn’t he know he’s supposed to be into picture taking on the first day of school??

It’s a little weird {okay, maybe a lot weird} for me, because I’m not at his preschool this year. I’ve brought him to work with me since he was 8 weeks old and now we’re dropping him off and…. leaving. You know, like most parents. J It’s still strange for me {and possibly a little teary} not to be there with him. I’ll do another blog post on what I’m up to this year!  I’m so excited for him this year though, his last in preschool!! {WHAT?!?}

Oh, yea. I have a blog…

My poor little blog, with it’s hit and run posts! I can’t seem to get the blogging thing together here lately. Our extremely busy May has been replaced by an extremely busy June.

This picture of Luke about sums it up:

He’s sleeping upright in the cart at Target. Ha!

We started our month with an incredibly important day for Dan. And I didn’t take the first picture! I can’t believe it. I had to snag these from Facebook! Dan was ordained as an Elder of the United Methodist Church.

He has worked so hard and the service was just incredible. I’m so proud of him. He is a wonderful pastor!

For some reason this year I volunteered to direct our church’s VBS. I’m not sure what I was thinking. Ha! I’m only kidding really. I love VBS. It is surely a big job though. I think things went well and the kids had a ball. I think most of my May/June busyness stemmed from coordinating VBS.

This was Luke’s first year as a VBS participant and he LOVED it. He had so much fun and I think he learned a lot. He loved the Worship time. He has been singing the songs all week.

I loved seeing him so into singing worship songs. His other favorites were snack and playdough time. J

Daniel has always loved VBS, so he had a wonderful time as usual. He had some of his best buds there, so that’s always a plus!

He’s gotten so big, by the way. I just can hardly take it. He acts so grown up now. {When he’s not fighting with his brother. J}

My VBS week brought back a lot of memories of my days as a Children’s Ministry Coordinator. I did enjoy that job!

We followed up VBS with a mini trip to the lake for Father’s Day.

I’m hoping that our summer will now take a chilled out, but fun pace. And who knows, maybe I can blog more often about it?!

embrace the camera…

We were out of town most of this past weekend and we returned to no internet. This is just a tragedy for this internet obsessed house. Isn’t that so sad? Ha! Well, it’s back just in time for me to embrace the camera.

My boys were in love with our hotel {or as Luke calls it: “the showtell”}. The favorite part, of course, was the pool.

We enjoyed one last swim before we left and snapped a quick self portrait.

It wouldn’t be a self portrait without cutting half of someone’s head off in the attempt, so here is the rest of Luke’s face:

Trying to {embrace the camera}…

Luke and I have been trying to get a self portrait on the camera phone here lately.   Trying being the key word.

I think we might need a little more practice.  :)
