Wordless Wednesday: D3 fixes dinner…

Sunday Scripture…

This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it!
~Psalm 118:24

Bamm Bamm…

I was browsing through Wal Mart the other day and found a little shirt that I just couldn’t resist.

B has no idea who this little person is… I really should get the kids some Flinstone DVDs. I loved that show growing up!

Anyway, I had to get this shirt because this little guy:

earned the nick name Bamm Bamm long ago.

After breaking glasses and ceramic tiles, dunking cell phones in sweet tea, flicking an entire jar of jelly all over the kitchen, throwing his sippy cup great distances any and everywhere, lifting heavy boxes of toys all by himself at age two, etc. etc…. he has earned himself the nick name Bamm Bamm.

He surely is a sweet Bamm Bamm, however.

A glimpse into our backyard…

One of my favorite parts of our new house is the backyard. It was a selling point for me. Two little boys need a nice yard to run around in!

I decided to take my camera out into the yard the other day and take a few pictures of what the boys are up to on a beautiful, sunny day.

B loves the sand and will spend hours filling his bucket and dumping it out.

But, where’s D3?

Ahh…. Over there being a nosy neighbor.

We have these beds in the back that are overgrown and we’re not quite sure what to do with. The boys love to explore over there, but I would prefer they didn’t.

Notice there are no training wheels on the bike. Woot woot! Bless his heart, D3 is a mega perfectionist (not sure where he gets this trait from!). He will only do something if he can do it very well. We’re working on this with him, but he wouldn’t even entertain the notion of taking those training wheels off until he could ride the bike like a pro. And now he can.

We live on a rather busy road, so I love that the carport wraps around behind the house. It gives the kids lots of room to ride their bikes.

Here comes D3. Gotta do a little showing off. J

He can even ride around the yard. What talent. ;)

Summer Days and Eric Carle pictures…

Well, we’ve hit the point in the summer where we are in need of things to do! J I know a lot of kiddos start complaining about being bored right about now… not my kids.

When they have nothing to do, they don’t complain, they just start screaming and wrestling. <sigh>

They are doing good for the most part, there are just times in the day when they need more direction than others. I made these little idea sheets for D3:

When he seems to be lacking direction, I tell him to look at his chart and choose something to do. This has actually worked for the most part.

I’m actually really bad about doing projects with my kids. As a preschool teacher, you would think I would have all sorts of cute little projects to do with them, but I don’t think to do that very often. Maybe I’ll start doing that more! I wanted to to do something with D3 this week, and found a great art project.

I got the idea here for Eric Carle style art.

The first day we painted a big sheet of moving wrapping paper. I love that stuff for kids to paint on- it’s huge and they can make big strokes without painting all over the table. We painted big blocks of separate colors.

I didn’t think to take a pic of the paper before we started cutting it up for our project, so this was a picture of pieces of paper that we cut up once it was dry.

We let the painted paper dry over night.

The next day, we cut out the pieces that we needed for our picture from the painted paper and glued them onto pieces of posterboard.

D3 made a picture of me. J

I made a lovely flower. J

I thought the final products turned out pretty cool using the painted paper. It was fun and a good way to spend… I dunno… an hour of our day. ;)
