What’s up…

My mom pointed out to me last night that I haven’t blogged in a week. We have been so busy!

Last week was filled with looking at houses with a realtor, scrubbing our house (the parsonage) to make it look decent for the new pastor for our church to come visit and Dan finishing up the last of his coursework. This past weekend the new pastor met with the church here and looked around the parsonage (which has gotten heavy use the past 3 years with 2 little boys running around!) and we went and met with our new church this weekend as well. Everything went very well and we are super excited about Dan’s new appointment.

While this was going on, my kids were with my parents at the lake. Little one was “ride-riding” (riding on the golf cart) with Nana and D3 got to go to Talladega with Papa. He had a ball! That is all he has talked about since Saturday. He now has a Dale Jr. poster proudly displayed in his room. J They had passes to go down and see the cars, so D3 was able to get his picture made with a few cars.

I think we might have a NASCAR fan at the house now. Yikes. J

I went to the lake Sunday to pick up the kids and back home to look at yet another house. This one we really liked and it looks like it’s the one. Hopefully things will go smoothly in the house buying department. It can be such a bear!

In other exciting news, look what came in the mail this week:

Our cruise documents! Woot! We’re so excited and I pray that we are able to relax on this vacation in the middle of chaos. I’m hoping that things will have calmed down greatly in the next few weeks and we can enjoy ourselves!

Off to do some housework and some school work! Hope everyone is having a nice week.

Working on our list…

A couple of weeks ago I made a list of some major stuff that we have coming up. I’ve been able to cross some things off of the list, but I’ve also had to add some.

  • Next week (or even the end of this week) we should find out where we are moving. Dan is graduating, so he will be reappointed to another church.
  • Easter festivities- egg hunt and service.
  • Dan preaches the Chapel service at Candler (Emory University). I’m quite proud of him. J
  • Dan graduates. Yeah! Again, quite proud.
  • Dan and I go on our celebratory cruise! So excited about this!!
  • Lots of cleaning and packing and then moving in the summer.
  • Somewhere in there I have to try and find a new job!
  • Find a house.
  • Buy a house, which will include a huge list of to-dos!

Easter has come and gone. We didn’t make to either of D3′s Easter egg hunts. He had the stomach bug for a week after B had it. It was an icky 2 weeks around here! I think everyone is better now, though.

We found out where we are moving… about 20 minutes down the road. We were super shocked. We expected a longer distance move, but are excited to move to the town where I work- so I got to scratch ‘find a new job’ off of my list. No interviews- yay! Dan received a really nice appointment as a senior pastor. So, now we have to find a house. We were considering renting, but with the interest rate being so low (and the fact that we haven’t bought in 5 years, so would qualify as new home owners) I think we have decided to buy. So, that has added a few items to my to-do list. ;)

And yesterday Dan preached the Chapel service at Candler (Emory University). Six students are asked to preach each year and Dan was one of them. His parents and I went with him yesterday and my mom was sweet enough to stay with the kids. We had to get up super early to make the drive to Atlanta. Good ole’ Atlanta traffic.

Finishing touches being made on the sermon while sitting in traffic.

Dan did an awesome job with his sermon. He seemed very relaxed up there in front of students and professors. I’m being a total bragging wife, but I’m proud. J

Now I’m off to try and not be stressed about moving, but to be excited and steadily move forward. So much easier said than done!

Recipes by D3…

How to make Hot Chocolate, by D3:

  1. Ask your Daddy to make you hot chocolate.
  2. When Daddy says he will make it when he gets out of the shower, decide you can do this on your own.
  3. Get a plastic, disposable cup.
  4. Grab the container of hot chocolate mix.
  5. Put several tablespoons full of hot chocolate mix in the cup.
  6. Next fill the cup with milk.
  7. Open fridge and get the chocolate sundae syrup.
  8. Add several squeezes of chocolate syrup to cup and stir.
  9. Content with yourself, drink the chocolately goodness.
  10. Oh, and there’s no need to heat. J
