Valentine’s Weekend…

My Valentine’s Day was drawn out over three days and was very kid-centric. And that’s okay by me. I’m really not a big romantic Valentine’s kind of person. I dunno, I think you should show your loved one that you love them every day, not just once a year with a gigantic stuffed animal. But I digress.

Thursday we had a Valentine’s Party at preschool. We had Burger King kid’s meals, cupcakes, and a valentine card exchange. Could it get any better? Ha! I got the prettiest flowers from one of my little boys. They are such a pretty color and so springy.

Friday D3 had his Valentine’s Party at school. I didn’t take the first picture. What kind of mommy and blogger am I? They had an ice cream party and those kids were some kind of excited. They all consumed vast amounts of ice cream, toppings and candy. D3 received a Valentine gram from one of his little (girl) friends. He was so excited to have that little toy delivered to him in class and he has lugged it around most of the weekend.

He also informed me that he has 3 Valentines, but only one of them is his girlfriend. Hmmm…..

On Saturday, we arrived at the actual Valentine’s Day. Dan decided to take me to the mall that has New York and Company (since I had a gift card) and he would stroll around with the boys and let me shop. Well, let me tell you, after seeing a couple of mom’s with toddlers trying to shop for clothes with their babies fussing at them and trying to get out of their strollers, I decided that I might have received the best Valentine’s Day gift.

We also went to lunch at Ruby Tuesday while we were at the mall. When did they get fancier? I obviously had not been there in a while. The food was awesome too, which I didn’t remember.

It was like going to a nice restaurant, but you could still have your loud kids with you. Who knew?

Saturday night we had family movie night. The kids layed on the couch at ate their heart shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (how creative am I? ;) ) Dan and I got them Space Buddies for V-day, so we all watched that.

B is covered in PB&J and D3 is blurry, but those are my cuties.

Alright, I need to wrap this up, because this could be my longest, most boring post yet.

Have a great week!

The potty is half full…I hope…

Well, I think I’m full of wishful thinking this week. No, maybe I am just being very optimistic. That’s what it is. Optimistic.

First, it was my switch to a spring blog theme. (Thanks, Dan)

Now, I have these items ready to go today:

Crazy? Optimistic? I haven’t decided yet. J

Lovin’ the South…

I was driving home from work today and stopped for a funeral procession. As I was sitting there, I started thinking about how much I love that people do this in the south. It made me think of other things I love about the south. Here are a few:

*sweet tea

* saying “y’all” and “bless their heart”

*cornbread and grits (maybe not together!)

*waving at people you don’t even know, because it’s polite

*saying “yes ma’am” and “yes sir”

* road-side boiled peanut stands

*sweet, sing-song, slow speech

I’m sure there are a bunch more! What do you love about your region of the world? Anything to add to my southern list?

Frivolous and not so Frivolous…

So, this morning I decided to kill some time on the internet- big shoker!- and ended up heading over the www.childrensplace.com. They already have their Easter clothes available. So cute. I think most years D3 has worn Children’s Place on Easter. And by the way- can you say wishful thinking?? I am so over the cold and ready for spring weather!

Anyway, so now I’m in ‘What should the boys wear at Easter’ mode. You know, highly important world-changing thinking happening with me.

So, I see a super cute sports coat (and D3 loves those things), so I think maybe this:

Cute and we already have the shirt and pants.

And then B can wear this:

Cute and we already own the shirt and pants. But then I thought- how many sweater vests can one boy own? So, maybe this?

But Easter is in April this year, so he will burn up.

So maybe no coat for D3 and this for B:

But I just don’t love it.

What a dilemma. Hee… Hee….

I still might do the sweater vest thing. I so love them on him.

Alright, so on to something far more important that what my kids might wear on Easter.

My family member Sharolyn (My husband’s dad’s cousin? Is that even right?). It doesn’t matter how she’s related, just know that sweet Sharolyn is doing something important in May. She is participating in the March of Dimes walk. Her info is on the side over there —–à
She needs help in reaching her goal. She is walking for her nephew who passed away last year and another that passed away 6 years ago.

She is also a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and is donating 50% of her earnings between now and the end of April. You can click on her Stampin’ Up page and order directly on her site.

Have a great weekend!!

The loves of a two-year old…

I could seriously eat this little guy up! Here he is this a.m. after taking D3 to school. He does not want to take his little robe off (which is too cute!) and he is snuggling Handy Manny and his favorite blanket while watching Signing Time.

He is most definitely developing his likes and dislikes.

For the longest time he had no interest in TV. Now he is loving this guy:

And for a while now he has been in love with Signing Time. We feel like Rachel is another member of the family.

We watched ABC Signs until I have it memorized. Now he is into My Favorite Things, which he calls Run, Run. There’s a song on there about walking, running, sitting, etc. He also has the CD and always wants to listen to Run, Run.

He is such a little music lover.

He loves and sings Jesus Loves Me and Silent Night. But I would have to say that his favorite song is Let it Go by Tim McGraw! This totally cracks us up. He calls is ‘Whoa, Whoa’ and sings along to a lot of the song. When it’s over he’s saying “More Whoa, Whoa peas.”

He is in love with cars, trains and trucks. At some point I’m going to have to get him on video saying truck. He says it in the deep, grumbly voice and then makes the Tim the Tool Man Taylor noise. So manly.

He loves it outside and would live out there if we let him! He loves to ‘wing.’

He loves his brother so much. He wants to be just like him.

He is always ready with hugs and kisses as well. He’s a very cuddly little guy.

He has brought a lot of joy and laughter to our home!
