Saturday morning…

My kids got up at 5:00 and 5:45 Saturday morning. What the heck? When do kids start to sleep in? Any day now will do.

So, I fix toast and jelly in my half-asleep state, because the little one thinks you have to eat breakfast the moment you wake up.

Around 7:30 the tornado sirens start going off, so I turn on the weather and watch to see where the storms are and where they are moving. We stayed close to the closet we were ready to hop into and watched as they said several tornados were touching down about 10 miles away. Then they said that a funnel cloud had been spotted about 3 miles west of us moving east, so we all crammed in the closet.

There ended up being no damage right around us, thank the Lord.

After that ordeal, I went to the computer to check the weather radars and then headed back into the kitchen when I spotted this:

Uhm…. what the heck is on my hardwoods? My mind starts wandering as I walk into the kitchen and spot this:

Yea, remember the grape jelly from our early morning breakfast? Well, apparently someone decided to take it off the counter and plop spoonfuls of jelly through the living room and kitchen.

An entire jar of grape jelly.

Then after discovering he’s made quite the mess, he decides to grab some paper towels and clean up.

So, I take super sticky boy for an inpromptu bath while Dan and D3 wipe up jelly. Then I mop the floor.

All before 10:00 am.

My how things change when you’re a mommy. I would have just been rolling out of bed at 10:00 pre children.

That was just our morning, by the way. I’ll have to blog about the rest of our day later.

Wordless Wednesday: Shaving Cream Fun…

This weekend…

This weekend I :

  • Took a nap Saturday and Sunday- it was awesome. J
  • Played Disney Bingo.
  • Went on a date with my husband! It’s been forever since we’ve had a date night!
  • Ate dinner at a yummy Italian restaurant.
  • Browsed books at Books a Million sans kids.
  • Had icecream from Marble Slab.
  • Ran after eating Italian and ice cream in one night.
  • Watched part of the Oscar’s- man is that a long show.
  • Watched the kiddos play in shaving cream. They love this.
  • Taught Sunday School.
  • Wrestled with a two-year-old during Church service.
  • Made yummy (and super easy) Chicken Tacos from Leigh’s blog.
  • Went grocery shopping.
  • Bundled the kiddos up to play outside.

I had a great, laid back weekend and loved it.

How was your weekend?

My kids have style…

Here is the lovely ensemble that the little one insisted on wearing the other day:

In the house mind you. We hadn’t been anywhere. He just wanted his coat, with his diaper, and two different shoes (one being a 2 sizes too small water shoe).

It reminded me of a few months back, when he was insistent on this look:

I think he was going for the “Joey wearing all of Chandler’s clothes on Friends” look.  Do you remember that episode? I love it. Could I *be* wearing any more clothes?

And I can’t leave out my first born:

I love this look- I think it shows off his favorites from all four seasons.

WFMW: Daily Clothes Organizing

I got so tired of the ‘getting ready’ drama in the mornings, that I’ve tried to take a bit of the sting out of getting ready for school.

The best thing that I did was buy one of these from IKEA for $2.99. I love IKEA. And I’m super cheap and didn’t want to pay $20 for the specific days of the week organizers, so this works out perfectly for us.

On Sunday night I pick out D3′s clothes for the week. He used to help me choose, but now he doesn’t want to- which is fine by me!

I put shirt, pants, socks, and underwear in each little cubbie, so that all he has to do is grab and get dressed in the mornings.

This has been a lifesaver!

I also have a chart taped on the inside of his closet that gives him a run down of the things he has to do each morning.

If you can’t read it, it lists go to the restroom, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth and hair, put lunch box in backpack and be ready to go by 7:20.

He doesn’t really rely on this chart anymore, but for quite a while it was a super important piece of paper!

A little bit of clothes organization to help my sanity in the mornings works for me!
