Recap…

Thanks for the well wishes for D3. He had a wonderful birthday. We picked him up from school, he changed clothes and we headed to see Bolt.

It was such a cute movie. The movie was in 3-D, which was really cool. This was B’s first movie, which frankly made me very nervous. He did awesome, though! We got him and D3 a kiddy combo of popcorn, fruit snacks and a drink. B chowed almost the entire movie (it was also his first popcorn experience). He would ask “K?” occasionally if he was worried about something that happened in the movie. When we left he said “Bye Bolt” and waved the entire way to the car. It turned out to be a really great experience.

We gave D3 a choice of anywhere to go eat and he chose Burger King. He and B played and ate a little bit (they were stuffed with popcorn, still!). We headed home for the rest of presents and for cupcakes.

After the kids went to bed, I finished up sugar cookies for D3′s class Christmas party and for teacher gifts.

I forgot to take a pic of the cute Christmas kitchen towels I got for B’s teachers, but I gave them each a towel and a little baggie of these cookies.

I also put together D3′s teacher’s gift basket. I was actually proud of this basket, I’m not always creative with my gifts. I ordered 3 different versions of The Gingerbread Man story from Scholastic Book Clubs. My mom is an elementary teacher, so I was able to order through her. It’s a really great way to get your kids great books at a great price. So, I had the three Gingerbread Man books (Gingerbread Baby is my favorite- so cute) and I got a box of Gingerbread mix with a cookie cutter. Hopefully she liked the gift. As a teacher, I would love getting books.

This weekend we get to spend time with Dan‘s parents and on Sunday it’s the children’s Christmas pageant (which should be interesting. J)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Birthday, D3!!

Today is D3′s birthday. I cannot believe it! My first baby is 6 years old. It doesn’t seem possible.

He got to open a couple of presents before getting ready for school this morning. He’s majorly into Star Wars right now, so he was quite excited by his Star Wars gifts.

It’s pajama day today at his school, so he was super excited about that. Between his birthday, pajama day, and Christmas coming up, I hope I don’t receive a call today about my rowdy boy. Ha!

On December 17, 2002, I gave birth to quite the little boy! He was ready to greet the world from the get go.

D3 has always been such a confident and happy boy. We used to always get asked by strangers if he was always so happy. And the answer was mostly yes. Well, after the few couple of months anyway. J

He enjoys each day with gusto.

He is super quick to pick up on things and is a very smart guy.

He does everything 110%.

He is very considerate of others and loves his baby brother.

He has more energy that most people do.

He makes and keeps friends easily.

D3 is a super kid and I’m proud to be his Mommy.

Happy Birthday, kiddo!!

Christmas Card…

Faith is having a Christmas Card Carousel today.

I’ve ordered my cards and they are not here yet! But, hopefully in the next couple of days they will arrive and then be promptly mailed out. And hopefully everyone will receive theirs before Christmas.

Lots of hopefullys.

I decided to go with a family picture this year.  All of us may not be looking at the camera, but almost 2 year olds can be easily distracted.  ;)

I’ll be back in a bit for a post about what special event is happening in our family today!!

Christmas Tour…

I decided last minute to participate in BooMama’s Christmas Tour of Homes. There are lots of cute and crafty Christmas décor over there.

Here, we have some kid friendly and simple (hence the name of my blog) décor. J

Welcome to our humble abode!

The kids helped decorate the tree this year, which I thought was great. And thanks to a certain little almost two year old, all breakable ornaments are up high and all shatterproof and kiddy ornaments are down low!

Try as I may, I could not get a good picture of one of my favorite ornaments. This one is from D3′s first Christmas when he was all of 8 days old.

Another favorite ornament is this one that D3 brought home when he was in the three year old class at preschool. I just love this one! Notice how it’s hanging super low this year, since it won’t break. J

I love this plump little snowman!

Here are our stockings hung by the TV with care.

We are also a bit book obsessed at my house and I have tons of Christmas books. I made each of the boys a little container filled with Christmas books to read.

Merry Christmas from ours to yours!

Sunday Scripture…

“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
