Our Three Words…

I haven’t done one of these in a while.

Our week in three words:

The birthday and Christmas countdowns have begun. D3 and I made a chain to countdown to his birthday, Christmas, and then his brother’s birthday.

Dan was smart and came up with the idea to color code the links, so we could countdown to all three events on one chain. The green are links until D3′s birthday and then red from D3′s birthday until Christmas, and then yellow from Christmas to B’s birthday. D3 tears one off each night before bed.

December is such a hectic time for us with both boys’ birthdays and Christmas, but I love it. They don’t know any different than to have their birthday right beside Christmas, and so far I think we’ve done a good job making a big deal about their birthdays and not lumping them into Christmas. Dan thought maybe I should do a PSA for sleeping in separate rooms during the month of March, but I love having Christmas babies! (and he might possibly kill me for saying that J)

D3 is super excited and B is also, even though he’s not sure why. He knows something is up though.

It might have something to do with the “teee” in the living room. It is filled with “balls” that B likes to take off and throw across the room. <sigh> Thank goodness for the purchase of shatterproof ornaments.

The Great Christmas Tree Hunt ’08…

We headed out Saturday to choose a Christmas tree from our favorite Christmas Tree Farm.

This is always such an event. Dan is picky about trees and I’m not picky enough. I think they are all pretty even if they aren’t. So, we have to meet in the middle somewhere.

Here are my boys trying to find the perfect tree.

We finally chose a tree that we all agreed on and then hauled it home on top of the car.

I’m thinking that is the first and last time we will do that. I was a nervous wreck the whole trek home.

Next time we’re borrowing a truck.

If you look closely everyone is decked in Gator orange and blue. We got our tree home just in time to watch the SEC Championship game.

D3 got into it.

Go Gators!!

Broken…

These are B’s pacis.

He loves these things, but if you look closely you can see that the very tips of the pacifiers are gone.

I wanted to get rid of B’s pacifiers by two, and he will be two at the end of the month, so….

Dan made the executive decision that Saturday was the day to start weaning B off of the pacifier.

We are doing the same thing that we did with D3- snipping the ends of the pacis little by little until he gives them up. One snip with D3 and he said they were broken and that was that.

Not so with B.

There have been many tears shed (and not all of them from the baby). He is absolutely furious with his broken pacis- he screams his head off at them.

I think things may be looking up, but I’m not sure nap time will ever be the same. He only asked for a paci once today at nap, so I gave him his broken paci and he threw it and proceeded to have a little party in his crib for a long time before taking a one hour nap. He’s usually a three hour napper.

We all shall survive this, right?

Sunday Song…

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

and ransom captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile here until the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come thou Wisdom from on high, and order all things far and nigh; to us the path of knowledge show and cause us in her ways to go.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, O come, great Lord of might, who to thy tribe son Sinai’s height in ancient times once gave the law in cloud and majesty and awe.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come thou Root of Jesse’s tree, and ensign of thy people be; before thee rulers silent fall; all peoples on thy mercy call.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

The Polar Express…

My parents took the boys (and Dan and me J) on the Polar Express train ride the day after Thanksgiving. It was great. Both boys were in awe and loved it.

They dressed in their Christmas pajamas (and matching robes- so cute!). We got there and waited for the train to arrive. We boarded and when the train started moving they read The Polar Express until we arrived at the North Pole.

Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves boarded the train at the North Pole and they played Christmas songs and the kids sang while we all waited our turn to have a minute with Santa. The elves brought each person the first gift of Christmas- a silver bell. Santa and Mrs. Claus made their way to each child and then we all got chocolate milk and a chocolate chip cookie. On the way back, each child received a Polar Express ornament.

I really recommend taking your kids on The Polar Express if it comes near your way. It really brings tears to my eyes thinking about how in awe the kids were of the ride and there was no doubt what so ever that we magically road the train to the North Pole. Love it!

Here are some pics from our fun night. Thanks Nana and Papa!
