Our Three Words

On ABC’s i-CAUGHT they have a segment called “Your Three Words,” it also airs on Good Morning America Weekend. They challenge viewers to sum up their week in just three words. People come up with some of the most creative ways to tell about their week. They set the videos to great music and inevitably I get tears in my eyes. I dunno, call me a sap. Or a dork. Or better yet don’t, because I might start to cry.

Anyway, I thought I would attempt Our Three Words to sum up our week this week:

It will be okay. You can go on…

So, who said these words to who this morning?

It was D3′s first day of Kindergarten today. To say he was excited would be an understatement.

He woke up this morning and immediately got dressed. He ate a breakfast of champions- okay, so he shoveled in a poptart- and put on his backpack. He wore that backpack for at least thirty minutes before it was even time to go. Our typical two minute trek to school took fifteen, because of all of the school traffic. We walked into that big school with our two heaping full walmart bags of schools supplies (bags that starting busting… and supplies that starting falling out…). We made our way to the back of the school, tossed his supplies in his classroom, and he sat in the hall with his classmates waiting for school to start.

He looked up at me (looking so darn grownup, I can’t believe it!) and said, “It will be okay. You can go on.”

And so I did.

What a big boy. I couldn’t be more proud of my smart and independent little big Kindergartener!

Summer is coming to an end…

Summer is winding up around here. Forget that it’s nearly 100 every day and still will be for days to come. Forget that the kids need a romp in the sprinklers and a popsicle to remain somewhat cool when they are outside.

Summer is ending, because school is starting.

D3 starts Kindergarten tomorrow. I’m both excited and just want to cry about the whole thing.

We’ve purchased all of the school supplies.

We went to Meet your Teacher day at the Elementary School.
We were excited to find out that his Kindergarten teacher is the same teacher he had for Pre-K camp this summer. He just loved her! She is sweet and will treat D3 well. This is such a sigh of relief for me.  She’s due with her second baby next week, so she might or might not be there on the first day. There will have a sub for the first 8 weeks and the substitute was there today as well.

And can I say that I can’t wait until I teach (hopefully) elementary school. Oh my goodness did I have classroom envy.

We had to fill out all sorts of paperwork (with is such fun with a squirmy toddler on your hip) and we got lots of paperwork to take home as well. The teacher put the sweetest poem in the take home folders:

The First Day
I gave you a little wink and smile
As you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
And know your child must stay.
You’ve been with him for five years now
And have been a loving guide,
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave him at my side.
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow.
I’ll love him as I would my own
And help him learn and grow.
So please put your mind at ease
And cry those tears no more.
For I will love him and take him in
When you leave him at my door.

Who knew sending your child to Kindergarten would be so dramatic? It really kind of is though.

My Day…

Luckily I have big blue eyes, extremely squeezable cheeks, and a sweet disposition.

This morning I splashed in the toilet and then for good measure, I threw my sippy cup in there. Then during brother’s swim lessons, I threw my entire snack cup of cheese crackers all over the ground.

After nap, I decided to empty the drawers in my bedroom leaving all of my diapers and clothes all over my bedroom floor. After a nice snack, I played in the dog food covering myself in our dog’s food and water.

Right before dinner I decided to empty the entire bag of play dough toys all over the kitchen floor and then dump the entire basket of CDs all over the floor in the office.

I was so tired from my day that I went to sleep before 7:00.

Luckily I have big blue eyes, extremely squeezable cheeks, and a sweet disposition.
