Sunday Scripture…

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”

~Matthew 19:14

Our Three Words…

 Our week in three words:

The baby turned 20 months old this week. I really should stop calling him a baby, because he’s really not at this point. I have no idea where the last 20 months have gone. It’s been a complete flash!

Right now he is completely obsessed with cars, trucks, and trains. All day everyday he is pushing along a vehicle of some sort saying, “Choo Choo… bye byes.” And he acts like a kid in a candy store when we’re driving on the interstate, screaming “Tuck, Tuck!!” at every semi that passes us. He is truly a boy’s boy.

Speaking of being a boy’s boy, he has started being rough with the other babies in the nursery at preschool. L There is not a toddler room at our school (and oh how I wish there was), so B is still in this nursery this school year with little ones. He’s the oldest by 5 months and has started scratching the other kids and pulling their hair. <sigh> He gets a firm “No” and a time-out each time, so hopefully he will stop soon.

Also this week, my big man is interested in the potty. How awesome would it be if this interest would last? He tells me every time he has a dirty diaper and asked to sit on the potty twice yesterday. Is this too much information to share about him? I don’t think so, I’m thrilled!

He’s been slow to start talking, but I’m starting to understand him more and more each day. I don’t know if anyone else can, but I’m starting to understand what he’s saying. His newest word is “Scooby dooby doo.” You can’t tell he has an older brother or anything, can you?

Baby Blue (and my husband calls him Blue for his gorgeous blue eyes) is such a sweet boy (when he’s not scratching and pulling hair). He loves to cuddle and give out hugs and kisses. He loves to greet any and everyone with a “HI!!” in the brightest, cheeriest voice ever. He has been a true blessing to us this past 20 months…. I still can’t believe he’s almost two!!!

Six Random Things…

I was tagged by Caroline.

She has such a sweet blog. I’m supposed to list six things about myself. So, here comes the randomness….

  1. I LOVE to go on vacation. I’m constantly wanting to plan a trip somewhere. We went to Disney this summer, which is one of our favorite places on earth. And I’m dying to go somewhere again already. Dan and I are in the middle of planning our anniversary get away and our cruise next summer to celebrate his graduation!!
  2. I hate sitting in traffic. Oh my goodness, my good side does not come out in sit-still traffic. Once Dan clicked through his cell phone to the games screen and handed it over to me in traffic. I didn’t even recognize I was being pacified like a kid for a minute.
  3. I detest the lunchable. I seriously went off on a 30 minute tangent the other night about my disdain for the lunchable. Now, deep theological matters I’m still trying to work out within myself, but the lunchable… I know I can’t stand.
  4. I love school supplies, paper, organizers… anything like that. If I would let myself, I could just go nuts in paper stores, party stores, The Container store. I don’t know why, but I just LOVE it. You’d think I’d be more organized.
  5. I am such a visual learner that it’s ridiculous. If there’s not a picture involved, I have a hard time staying interested. J Hence my pictures with each of my random things.
  6. I say “seriously” entirely too much. The other night the kids and I were waiting on my husband to join us at the dinner table for prayer. We looked over to see Dan making a pitcher of sweet tea and my five-year-old says (in his best Chandler Bing voice, even though he has no idea who that is) “Seriously. You HAVE to do that right now?” I thought I would die, hearing my voice coming out of my child’s mouth.

Can I take your picture?

I thought the baby looked so cute on Sunday (Dan thought he looked like a pilgrim!), so I wanted to take his picture. He had a different idea.

Can I take your picture?

Please?

No? Maybe just one?

I guess you really don’t want me to take your picture.

But you look so cute!

How about a smile?

Alright, I won’t press my luck.

Sunday Scripture

Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
       like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.
